Infrastructure Operations Engineer (Ansible)

Location: Hybrid, with 2 days per week in the office; office base in Brentwood, UK. Appropriate right to work in the UK is required. Visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Support, maintain, and improve lab infrastructure, including Windows and Linux systems, virtual machines, networking, and related infrastructure.
• Develop infrastructure automation and configuration management with Ansible or similar tools for provisioning, configuration, validation, and operational activities.
• Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure health and connectivity using observability tools such as Prometheus.
• Explore AI and automation opportunities to improve engineering workflows, standardisation, and operational efficiency.
• Perform hands-on lab activities, including rack equipment installation, patching, fibre and Cat6 cabling, and track activities in Jira.

Requirements

• Current hands-on commercial experience in infrastructure, DevOps, or systems engineering.
• A degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Practical experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management, particularly Ansible or similar deployment tooling.
• Good working knowledge of Linux, Windows, and virtual machine platforms.
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus.
• Strong infrastructure troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including experience with Jira or similar work-tracking tools.
• Willingness to work hands-on in a lab environment and enthusiasm for applying AI and automation to operational workflows.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in an engineering, test, or laboratory environment.
• Experience with physical infrastructure, racks, networking, fibre, or Cat6 cabling.
• Broader experience in infrastructure standardisation, operational tooling, or process improvement.
