Senior Backend Engineer - Access Control

Location: San Mateo, CA, United States; onsite five days per week.

Annual OTE: $150,000–$300,000 USD.

Develops an integrated, privacy-sensitive AI-powered physical security platform covering video security, access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management.

What you will do

• Build cloud-managed access control systems for managing doors, schedules, and user credentials.
• Drive less-defined product ideas through completion and deliver best-in-class products and experiences.
• Take technical ownership of major systems and solve large, complex problems with no clear answers.
• Work alongside firmware, backend, and frontend engineers on the access control product line.
• Teach and learn within a dynamic, fast-growing startup environment.

Requirements

• 5+ years of industry software engineering experience.
• BS or graduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or another science.
• Proficiency in at least one common server programming language, such as Python or Go.
• Experience designing scalable distributed systems, including databases, queues, and blob storage.
• Experience working in an agile software development environment.
• Willingness and ability to work onsite five days per week.
