Assurance Partner (Life Sciences)

Location: San Diego, United States; hybrid workstyle aligned to an hirify.global office, with flexibility to work on projects in hirify.global offices in biotech hubs across the country.

What you will do

• Lead audit engagements and client service coordination, managing financial statements, disclosures, and client deliverables.
• Manage multiple complex audit and assurance engagements, including status, milestones, resources, profitability, billing, collections, and engagement economics.
• Identify technical accounting and auditing matters, assess risk, design audit procedures, and coordinate with firm specialists.
• Build trusted relationships with clients, senior stakeholders, external contacts, and centers of influence while supporting business growth.
• Review work product, coach engagement teams, develop talent, and provide performance feedback.
• Maintain audit quality, independence, risk management, professional development, and effective use of digital quality tools, data, and global delivery resources.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
• Active CPA license in the state of residence or an equivalent professional credential.
• 13+ years of progressive public accounting, external audit, or assurance experience, including significant leadership of increasingly complex and large audit engagements.
• Substantial experience building and maintaining a client portfolio, bringing in new business, retaining clients, and ensuring engagement profitability and growth.
• Leadership and management experience overseeing multiple large or complex audit portfolios, senior leadership teams, firm-wide talent development, and staffing strategies.
• Deep mastery of accounting and auditing standards, including US GAAP, US GAAS, or other relevant regulatory standards; risk-based audit methodology; internal control frameworks; complex financial reporting; and complex, multi-entity, or high-risk audits.
• Business development and strategic leadership experience, including cross-firm service expansion, market strategy, local market and center-of-influence relationships, and sustained client growth.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and relationship-building skills with senior client executives, boards or audit committees, firm leadership, and cross-functional teams.
• Strategic thinking, firm-wide vision, ethical judgment, independence, and the ability to contribute to leadership, governance, and partnership-level decisions.
• Flexibility to travel, manage demanding workloads, and adapt to client and market pressures.
