Manager/Senior Manager Accounting (Biotech)

What you will do

• Manage month-end and quarter-end close calendars, checklists, priorities, and open items.
• Own and review accounting areas including accruals, payroll and benefits, stock-based compensation, investments, leases, prepaids, cash, and fixed assets.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, flux analyses, clinical and R&D accruals, and close support.
• Identify accounting risks and control gaps, recommend accounting positions, and implement remediation plans.
• Coordinate audit requests, support SOX activities, and collaborate on quarterly and annual SEC filings including 10-Q and 10-K footnotes.
• Improve accounting processes, reduce manual work, enhance data quality, and mentor future direct reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• CPA certification required.
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including close ownership and review of accounting work.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, accrual accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement support.
• Professional communication, sound judgment, ownership, organization, analytical ability, and attention to detail.

Nice to have

• Biotechnology, life sciences, clinical accrual, Big Four, and SEC-registered client experience.
• Experience partnering with Clinical Operations and FP&A on clinical trial accruals.
• Payroll accounting, equity accounting, audit, SOX, systems implementation, and AP processing experience.
• Experience with NetSuite, Prendio, FloQast, Coupa, TriNet, Excel, workflow automation, or AI-enabled tools.
• Ability to identify opportunities for AI, evaluate risks and limitations, and implement effective solutions.
