Manager/Senior Manager, Accounting (Biotech)

What you will do

• Manage the month-end and quarter-end close, including close calendars, checklists, priorities, and open items.
• Own and review complex accounting areas, including accruals, payroll and benefits, stock-based compensation, investments, leases, prepaids, cash, fixed assets, and bonus accruals.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, flux analyses, close support, payroll and equity accounting entries, and CMC and R&D accruals.
• Identify and escalate accounting risks, recommend accounting positions, identify control gaps, and implement remediation plans.
• Coordinate audit requests, support SOX activities, and collaborate with SEC reporting on 10-Q and 10-K filings and footnote disclosures.
• Develop accounting policies and procedures, lead process improvements, and manage, coach, and mentor future direct reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and CPA certification are required.
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of the close and review of accounting work, are required.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, accrual accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement support is required.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills for working with company leadership, employees, and vendors are required.
• Ability to identify opportunities for AI value creation, evaluate risks and limitations, and implement solutions effectively is required.

Nice to have

• Biotechnology, life sciences, or clinical accrual experience.
• Big Four experience with SEC-registered clients and relevant industry experience.
• Experience partnering with Clinical Operations and FP&A on clinical trial accruals.
• Payroll accounting, equity accounting, audit, SOX, systems implementation, and accounts payable processing experience.
• Experience with NetSuite, Prendio, FloQast, Coupa, TriNet, Excel, workflow automation, or AI-enabled tools.
