TL;DR
Wafer Fab Supervisor (InP Photonics): Leading high-volume InP wafer fabrication for BH DFB lasers and BH Gain Chips with an accent on production scheduling, process control, yield, and cleanroom safety. Focus on coordinating photolithography, PECVD, etch, metallization, and MOCVD regrowth support while troubleshooting process excursions, developing fab personnel, and improving throughput and cycle time.
Location: City of Industry/Rowland, California, USA; onsite cleanroom role with possible flexibility outside standard shift hours for engineering runs, excursions, or production needs.
Salary: $82,000–$117,000 per year.
Company
hirify.global is hiring for semiconductor and photonics wafer fabrication operations.
What you will do
Plan and direct daily wafer fabrication across photolithography, PECVD, dry etch, wet etch, and metallization for InP BH DFB laser and BH Gain Chip products.
Set lot priorities, coordinate production planning, conduct shift handoffs, and track WIP, tool status, bottlenecks, throughput, cycle time, and wafer-out targets.
Coordinate equipment downtime, preventive maintenance, repairs, supplies, chemicals, gases, and production documentation.
Lead, schedule, coach, train, and evaluate technicians and operators while building cross-trained coverage across fab modules.
Oversee process control, SPC, yield, defect, rework, excursions, root-cause investigations, corrective actions, process qualifications, DOEs, and NPI runs.
Enforce EHS, cleanroom, chemical, process-gas, precious-metal, lockout/tagout, quality-system, document-control, and training-record requirements; lead continuous improvement.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, materials science, chemistry, physics, or a related technical field preferred; an associate degree with equivalent experience is considered.
8–12 years of experience in semiconductor or photonics wafer processing, including direct III-V/InP process experience.
2–3 years of experience in a lead, supervisory, or team leadership role in a wafer fab or similar high-volume manufacturing environment.
Hands-on III-V/InP production experience across photolithography, PECVD, dry etch, wet etch, and metallization.
Working knowledge of complete III-V wafer-fab process flows, in-line metrology, SPC, root-cause analysis, and structured problem-solving.
Ability to support and troubleshoot any fab process area and cross-train and qualify technicians across modules.
Ability to manage throughput, cycle-time, WIP, yield, defect, and rework targets and prioritize competing demands.
Strong understanding of cleanroom, chemical, process-gas, precious-metal, and equipment lockout/tagout safety requirements.
Effective collaboration with technicians, operators, engineers, planning, quality, human resources, and management; proficiency with MES or lot-tracking systems and standard office software.
Ability to work in a cleanroom for extended periods across multiple process bays and around acids, solvents, process gases, and precious metals while following safety procedures.
Nice to have
Experience leading hiring, onboarding, retention, and technician training or certification programs.
Culture & Benefits
High-volume manufacturing environment focused on ownership, accountability, open communication, safety, quality, throughput, yield, and continuous improvement.
Collaboration across process engineering, equipment engineering, quality, production planning, human resources, and fab management.
Full-time onsite work in a III-V cleanroom environment.
