Staff Network Engineer (Enterprise Networking)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid work with at least 3 days in the office, with exact expectations confirmed by the Hiring Manager.

What you will do

• Provide technical direction and lead end-to-end design and delivery of complex enterprise WAN, LAN, wireless, remote-access, and secure-connectivity initiatives.
• Develop and govern network architectures, reference patterns, design standards, technical decision records, implementation strategies, and supportability criteria.
• Lead design reviews, validation, testing, implementation readiness, rollback planning, operational handoff, and assessment of network performance, capacity, resiliency, and technical debt.
• Act as a senior escalation point for complex and business-critical incidents, lead root-cause analysis, and coordinate technical response across teams, vendors, and service providers.
• Guide security and compliance design, vulnerability remediation, secure-by-design practices, observability, resiliency testing, and operational readiness.
• Advance Python-based network automation, reusable engineering frameworks, validation controls, technical roadmaps, knowledge sharing, and mentorship without direct people-management responsibility.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Progressive enterprise network-engineering experience, including leadership of high-complexity or enterprise-scale network initiatives.
• Expert-level knowledge of BGP and OSPF routing protocols.
• Expert knowledge of Cisco routing and switching in large enterprise environments.
• Advanced knowledge of Arista switching; enterprise WAN, LAN, wireless, MPLS, and TCP/IP networking; and Cisco VPN networking.
• Experience developing or influencing network architectures, designs, technical standards, or reference patterns.
• Experience serving as a senior technical escalation point for complex network incidents and leading systemic root-cause analysis.
• Ability to communicate complex technical decisions, risks, and recommendations to senior technical and business stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Significant experience with SD-WAN technologies, ideally Silver Peak, and advanced understanding of SASE solutions.
• Working knowledge of cloud networking concepts, including hybrid connectivity.
• Working knowledge of Python and network automation tools.
• Experience with Citrix NetScaler Access Gateways.
• Experience developing reusable automation frameworks using Python, Ansible, APIs, or infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Knowledge of Unified Communications and MS Teams solutions.
• Cisco certification such as CCNA or CCNP, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with network-performance, packet-analysis, configuration-management, modelling, and observability tools.
