Software Engineer - Mercury Command (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA; New York, NY; Portland, OR; or remote within Canada or the United States.

Salary: US employees: $122,400–$176,000 USD base salary; Canadian employees: $115,700–$166,399 CAD base salary. Total rewards also include equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Ship new capabilities for Mercury Command, including new skills that help customers understand their finances and take action in plain language.
• Take product ownership by helping design and deliver new Command capabilities.
• Partner with product and compliance teams to define correct behavior for each capability.
• Build tests that verify new capabilities work correctly.
• Work with experienced product and AI engineers in a small team while adapting to changing priorities and ambiguity.

Requirements

• 1–4 years of backend or full-stack development experience.
• Knowledge of or enthusiasm for learning Haskell, React, TypeScript, and Redux.
• Experience building LLM-powered products.
• Experience building and shipping new products with a strong product mindset.
• Ability to empathize with users and incorporate their perspective into product development.
• Ability to balance trade-offs and find creative solutions.
• Active use of AI tools to accelerate development, improve code quality, or solve difficult problems.
