Systems Engineer II (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote in the United States; 2–3 business-related trips per year for group meetings.

Base salary: $100,000–$145,000 per year, plus potential bonuses, equity grants, health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off.

What you will do

• Engineer and maintain solutions for production system environments.
• Analyze complex technical architectures and recommend improvements.
• Engineer and administer Linux environments across thousands of bare-metal servers and virtual machines.
• Troubleshoot server hardware and support large-scale production deployments in internal data centers.
• Write scripts and programs for automation, tools, frameworks, dashboards, and alarms using technologies such as Python, Perl, PHP, JavaScript, and Go.
• Participate in an on-call rotation with other team members.

Requirements

• US citizenship or a Green Card.
• Experience with bare-metal orchestration services such as OpenStack or Canonical MaaS, and Linux engineering and administration for thousands of bare-metal and virtual machines.
• Experience deploying and managing container orchestration services, including Kubernetes.
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as OpenStack Nova and VMware ESXi.
• Experience with CI/CD systems such as GitLab CI/CD and Jenkins, and configuration-management tools such as Chef, Ansible, and Salt.
• Experience working on small- to large-scale projects and writing technical documentation.
• At least 3 years of engineering experience, preferably in a production role.
• Proven experience using AI technologies to improve decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, increase efficiency, and drive business outcomes.
• Ability to self-learn, take initiative in a rapidly changing environment, collaborate effectively with cross-functional groups worldwide, work with distributed teams across multiple time zones, make timely decisions, and communicate excellently in writing and verbally.
• Ability to periodically undergo and pass additional background and fingerprint checks consistent with government customer requirements.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SNMP, and the OSI model.
• Knowledge of bare-metal provisioning technologies such as Canonical MaaS and OpenStack, Linux operating systems such as Ubuntu and Red Hat, and block-storage solutions such as TrueNAS.
• Knowledge of container systems such as Docker and Kubernetes, monitoring solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Zabbix, CI/CD systems such as GitLab CI/CD and Jenkins, and configuration management such as Chef, Ansible, and Salt.
• Knowledge of threat intelligence and mobile technology.
