Client Platform Engineer

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid

Salary: $347K–$445K base pay annually, plus equity, performance-related bonuses for eligible employees, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, develop, deploy, and operate secure Linux endpoint management systems across environments with different compliance requirements.
• Build agentic workflows using OpenAI products and models, fleet telemetry, scoped access, human review, traceable actions, and tested recovery to anticipate issues and guide remediation.
• Improve device setup, software delivery, onboarding, provisioning, updates, and support across Linux, macOS, and Windows.
• Develop first-party software and integrate commercial and open-source tools for software packaging, deployment, application management, configuration, enrollment, policy enforcement, and telemetry.
• Manage fleet configuration as code with GitOps, version control, peer review, automated validation, and CI/CD pipelines across Azure, AWS, and GCP, including staged deployments and tested rollback.
• Participate in engineering on-call, resolve incidents, monitor performance and configuration drift, verify deployment outcomes, and reduce recurring failures and manual work.

Requirements

• Deep experience securing and managing Linux fleets at scale, including configuration management, MDM, device enrollment, policy enforcement, open-source endpoint tools, and cloud identity integration.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or another modern programming language.
• Demonstrated success delivering secure, reliable, and scalable systems across different compliance requirements.
• Deep experience managing infrastructure at scale with infrastructure as code and GitOps, using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Chef.
• Experience integrating and operating fleet infrastructure with CI/CD and DevOps workflows.
• Experience deploying and operating fleet infrastructure in public cloud environments including Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Initiative, analytical judgment, and the ability to turn problems into practical improvements.

Nice to have

• Deep experience with open-source fleet management tools and frameworks.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, and NIST compliance frameworks.
• Strong stakeholder communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, or CCSP.
• Security thought leadership, including contributions to CPE open-source projects or technical communities.
