Principal Data Platform Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Own the full data platform vertical, from API ingestion and systems of record to agentic data discovery, workflows, and automation.
• Define platform standards for performance, reliability, security, data governance, SLAs, observability, and end-to-end handling of sensitive enterprise data.
• Design the data layer that enables AI agents to find, understand, and act on customer data accurately and reliably.
• Raise engineering standards through architecture and design reviews, technical writing, and mentorship of senior engineers.
• Translate ambiguous enterprise IT and business requirements into platform strategy and represent the data platform in strategic customer and Product conversations.
• Bring clarity and structure to open-ended technical problems while operating with high autonomy.

Requirements

• 10+ years of industry experience, including several years as the technical lead or architect of large-scale data platforms or distributed systems in production.
• Experience setting technical direction for long-lived systems, platforms adopted by other teams, technical standards, and durable architecture decisions.
• Experience building for enterprise customers, with security, access control, compliance, and data governance central to the design.
• Ability to influence beyond the immediate team and align engineering, Product, and customers on difficult tradeoffs without formal authority.
• Strong expertise in data modeling, infrastructure, and API design, supported by systems built, operated, and evolved in production.
