Senior Business Systems Developer (.NET/SQL Server)

What you will do

• Design, develop, optimize, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases, including tables, views, stored procedures, functions, triggers, queries, indexing, and performance strategies.
• Develop and enhance VB.NET, .NET Framework, Windows Forms, and other custom business applications.
• Build secure integrations between accounting platforms, internal applications, third-party systems, reporting tools, and external data sources using APIs, ODBC, ETL, and automated synchronization.
• Translate accounting and business requirements into technical specifications, applications, reports, dashboards, data extracts, and automated workflows.
• Support financial processes including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, journal entries, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
• Troubleshoot production issues, implement security and audit controls, validate data, document systems, and collaborate with stakeholders and vendors on technical projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 7 years of professional experience in software development, database programming, and business application support.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL, including database design, complex queries, stored procedures, functions, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Strong proficiency in VB.NET and the Microsoft .NET Framework, including Windows Forms and custom business applications.
• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining integrations using APIs, ODBC, ETL processes, and other integration technologies.
• Experience supporting business-critical applications, production troubleshooting, system reliability, relational database design, data integrity, validation, and reconciliation across multiple systems.
• Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial workflows, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, journal entries, and financial reporting.
• Experience supporting accounting, ERP, financial reporting, or other enterprise business applications.
• Ability to analyze requirements, recommend technical solutions, improve business processes, and work with accounting, operations, technology teams, and other stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, documentation, ownership, prioritization, and independent project-management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Bullhorn, Sage Intacct, or similar staffing, ERP, accounting, and financial management systems.
• Experience with Microsoft Access, legacy SQL Server environments, database migrations, and application modernization.
• Experience with SSIS, SSRS, Power BI, or similar reporting and business intelligence tools.
• Experience developing RESTful Web APIs and integrating with cloud services and third-party platforms.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Azure SQL, and other cloud-based database and application technologies.
• Experience with ASP.NET, JavaScript, or other modern web development technologies.
• Experience automating accounting, financial reporting, data reconciliation, and operational processes.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications while maintaining business continuity and data integrity.
