Senior QA Engineer (Playwright)

Location: Fully remote within Bulgaria, with an option to work from the Sofia office.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain automated UI, API, and integration tests with Playwright using JavaScript/TypeScript and/or Python.
• Use AI-assisted tools such as Cursor and GitHub Copilot for test design, refactoring, and failure analysis while validating outputs and following data-handling guidelines.
• Plan and execute functional, regression, smoke, and critical-path testing against acceptance criteria, identifying quality risks before release.
• Develop reliable test data approaches using fixtures, isolation, and suitable environments; improve test layering across API, component, and end-to-end coverage.
• Run and maintain automated suites in CI/CD with GitHub Actions, Bitbucket, GitLab CI, or Jenkins; improve stability, reporting, and build-failure triage.
• Collaborate with engineering and product in agile ceremonies, document scenarios and defects, test REST/GraphQL APIs, validate contracts and payloads, and verify data with SQL or equivalent.

Requirements

• 5+ years of QA experience with a strong focus on test automation as an individual contributor.
• Proven experience building and maintaining Playwright tests for UI and API testing using JavaScript/TypeScript and/or Python.
• Daily practical use of AI-assisted development for QA work, with the ability to critically review AI-generated tests.
• Solid API and integration testing experience, including authentication, mocking/stubbing, and debugging across services.
• Practical experience with automation test data and environments, including isolation, fixtures, and stability during parallel and CI runs.
• Hands-on CI/CD experience running automated tests in pipelines and working with Docker.
• Strong testing fundamentals, including the test pyramid, risk-based testing, agile practices, and the defect lifecycle, plus experience with Jira or a similar tool.
• Excellent written and verbal English for distributed collaboration.
• Experience improving quality on long-lived, evolving products rather than only greenfield projects.
