Software Engineer (C++/Embedded Linux)

Location: Bucharest, Romania; full-time remote work globally is allowed for positions that can be performed outside a hirify.global or customer location. International travel of up to 20% is required.

Salary: RON 165,000–242,000 annual gross base salary. Additional variable compensation or allowances may be available depending on the position.

What you will do

• Study customer and internal specifications and create component design documents based on the software architecture.
• Develop, modify, port, and maintain C++ software components for embedded Linux telematics applications.
• Clarify technical requirements with internal, external, and customer stakeholders and propose optimal solutions.
• Perform functional, unit, and system testing; specify unit tests and participate in code reviews.
• Debug software, perform root-cause analysis, fix defects, and verify the effectiveness of fixes using tools such as GDB.
• Analyze requirements and performance issues, improve KPIs, coordinate development with peers, and support automotive software development standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or another relevant IT-connected specialization.
• At least 4 years of experience as a software developer.
• At least 3 years of C++ development experience and good knowledge of C++.
• Good knowledge of Embedded Linux and Linux expertise.
• Experience developing embedded applications and working knowledge of embedded operating systems.
• Knowledge of inter-process communication, threading, and socket communication.
• Working knowledge of software development processes.
• Good written and verbal English communication skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 20%.

Nice to have

• Experience with TCP, UDP, MQTT, and CAN protocols.
• Unified Modelling Language knowledge.
• Knowledge of Agile software development methods, including SCRUM or SAFe Agile.
• Linux Kernel experience.
