Senior Data Scientist - Internal Audit (AI)

Location: In-office role based in Pittsburgh, PA; Cleveland, OH; Raleigh, NC; Birmingham, AL, or Downers Grove, IL, United States.

Base salary: $91,000–$185,900 per year; incentive eligible.

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI-enabled solutions for Internal Audit.
• Translate audit objectives, business challenges, and risk considerations into analytical solutions and reusable data products.
• Develop predictive, diagnostic, anomaly detection, and risk-focused models for audit planning, testing, continuous monitoring, and reporting.
• Build scalable analytical frameworks, workflows, data products, and production data pipelines in collaboration with technology, data, and enterprise partners.
• Ensure governance, validation, testing, documentation, and lifecycle management standards are followed for analytical solutions.
• Communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences, mentor team members, and contribute to Internal Audit’s data science, automation, and AI capabilities.

Requirements

• Master’s degree and 5+ years of industry-relevant experience are typically required; a comparable combination of education, job-specific certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with data manipulation and analytical libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, PySpark, TensorFlow, or similar technologies.
• Experience with large-scale data environments, Hadoop-based platforms, distributed data processing frameworks, and enterprise data ecosystems.
• Experience with GitHub or other source control platforms, including code management, collaboration, version control, and code review.
• Experience with machine learning, statistical modeling, predictive analytics, data science methodologies, NLP, text analytics, document intelligence, topic modeling, and unstructured data.
• Experience developing, validating, deploying, and monitoring production analytics or machine learning solutions.
• Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, collaboration, stakeholder-influence, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and mentor others.

Nice to have

• Experience with generative AI, large language models, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents, or related technologies.
• Understanding of AI governance, model risk management, and responsible AI practices.
• Familiarity with Artifactory, Conda, pip, or similar package, dependency, and artifact management tools.
• Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or similar data visualization platforms.
