Technical Chief of Staff (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote, within Europe. Employment options are available in the UK, Spain, Germany, and Estonia; contractor arrangements are available elsewhere.

What you will do

• Translate the CTO’s technical priorities, decisions, and objectives into actionable plans, clear ownership, and measurable progress across engineering teams.
• Coordinate communication between the CTO, engineering teams, and stakeholders while reducing unnecessary management involvement.
• Track engineering initiatives through tools such as Jira, identify blockers and dependencies, and drive accountability for agreed deliverables.
• Prepare technical documentation, decision records, project updates, and execution materials.
• Facilitate engineering discussions, capture decisions, clarify next steps, and follow up on commitments.
• Identify gaps, delays, and communication issues; challenge teams constructively and establish lightweight reporting processes.

Requirements

• Strong technical background, ideally in software engineering, technical programme management, engineering operations, or a similar role in a technology-driven organisation.
• Good understanding of web infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, software development, or related technical domains.
• Ability to understand complex technical discussions, identify key decisions and implications, and communicate them accurately to different audiences.
• Experience coordinating technical teams, managing dependencies, and driving execution across multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent written communication, documentation, organisation, and follow-through.
• Confidence to challenge delays, clarify responsibilities, and hold people accountable without creating unnecessary friction.
• Strong judgement, discretion, maturity, and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to operate independently while remaining aligned with the CTO’s technical direction and priorities.

Nice to have

• Experience in cybersecurity, bot mitigation, fraud prevention, web application security, or internet infrastructure.
• Experience with engineering project delivery, technical programme management, or software development lifecycle coordination.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, GitLab, or similar engineering collaboration tools.
• Experience working directly with senior technical leaders in fast-growing technology companies.
