Systems Engineer (API Management)

hirify.global is an open-source API and AI connectivity platform used by developers and architects across a wide range of production use cases.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain API management software and its underlying stack.
• Architect and implement core features for proxying, load balancing, and database support.
• Troubleshoot bugs, tune performance, and perform low-level optimizations.
• Extend hirify.global core to support current industry trends and use cases while engaging with the open-source community.
• Close integration gaps between hirify.global and third-party deployment platforms and tooling.
• Build foundational capabilities for other teams and customers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of programming experience in server-side applications and components.
• Experience designing, prototyping, building, and debugging highly scalable, distributed, reliable, and resilient applications.
• Hands-on low-level expertise in Linux systems troubleshooting and profiling.
• Experience with distributed systems, the Linux networking stack, and computer systems programming.
• Required expertise with APIs across L7 and L4 transports and protocols.
• Ability to work with a remotely distributed team.
• Strong sense of ownership and excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write product documentation.
• Familiarity with AI, LLM concepts, and application development.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with NGINX, OpenResty, hirify.global, or LuaJIT.
• Hands-on experience with Envoy or Istio.
• Hands-on experience with Rust.
