Senior Product Designer, Autonomy Data & Tooling

Location: Remote US & Canada; hybrid workplace

What you will do

• Design data labeling, annotation, curation, QA, and feedback workflows that improve training-data throughput, quality, and autonomy safety.
• Design data discovery and annotation tools for logs, events, simulations, labels, and map data, including task management, branch/merge workflows, defect logging, and annotator feedback.
• Research real workflows by shadowing labelers, annotators, triage analysts, and right-seaters, and communicate qualitative and quantitative findings.
• Build and scale a reusable design system with components such as timeline scrubbers, multi-select filters, pass/fail summary cards, map visualization primitives, and data tables with inline actions.
• Establish front-end and design infrastructure for self-service tooling, including context architecture and read-only or snapshot-data prototyping.
• Ship directly in production React codebases using AI-assisted tools rather than handing off static Figma designs.

Requirements

• 5–8+ years of experience designing complex, data-rich tools centered on structured data such as tables, filters, search, dashboards, maps, or annotation tools.
• Ability to treat cross-tool workflows as the unit of work, make dense information scannable and actionable, and validate designs with working prototypes using real data.
• Experience building or significantly growing a design system, including tokens, documentation, governance, adoption, and engineer support.
• AI-assisted coding with tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or a similar agentic setup as a regular part of prototyping and shipping.
• First-principles approach to inventing interaction models for curation workflows, map annotation, track-test playlist management, and data-lineage visualization.
• Strong front-end intuition, including understanding of component architecture, state management, and web-based data-visualization constraints.
• Infrastructure mindset focused on context documentation, AGENTS.md files, component APIs, and enabling others to build effective interfaces.

Nice to have

• Advanced AI-assisted workflows, including custom agentic setups and informed views on AI, design systems, and self-service UI.
• GIS or mapping experience, including map annotation, geospatial data, Mapbox, QGIS, or proprietary mapping tools.
• Data-platform or ML-tooling experience with labeling tools, data-curation interfaces, dataset management, or ML experiment tracking.
• Experience maintaining a design system used by 10+ engineers across multiple product surfaces, including versioning, adoption, and governance.
• Experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or safety-critical domains where tooling quality affects physical safety.
