Quality Assurance Manager (Aerospace)

Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States; onsite across office spaces, hardware labs, cleanrooms, production floors, and warehouse facilities. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. federal Secret Security Clearance and work with export-controlled technology. Occasional international and domestic travel is required.

What you will do

• Stand up, lead, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System, including initial AS9100 certification.
• Maintain configuration management and compliance with ITAR, EAR, export controls, DoD contracts, ISO 9001, and AS9100.
• Lead internal, external, customer, vendor, regulatory, AS9100, and ISO 9001 audits.
• Develop and govern CAPA and root-cause processes using 5 Whys, FMEA, Fishbone, and Six Sigma.
• Integrate quality standards across design, manufacturing, electronics assembly, testing, and the wider product lifecycle.
• Direct supplier quality programs, quality metrics, metrology, calibration, and cross-functional resolution of non-conformances.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. federal Secret Security Clearance and eligibility to work with export-controlled technology.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of progressive quality assurance experience in the aerospace or defense industry, including direct experience with electronics assemblies.
• Strong working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, ITAR/EAR regulations, and defense compliance requirements.
• Hands-on experience with IPC-610, IPC-620, J-STD-001, IPC-7711/7721, and applicable MIL-STDs.
• Experience leading regulatory and customer audits and overseeing supplier quality management programs.
• Valid passport and willingness to travel internationally and domestically occasionally.
• Expertise in metrology, calibration standards, and structured root-cause methodologies including 5 Whys, FMEA, and Six Sigma.
• Ability to build, coach, and elevate a technical quality team, communicate quality metrics, lead audit openings and closings, and liaise with global partners and regulatory authorities.

Nice to have

• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Auditor, or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
• Direct experience with DoD programs or defense prime contracts.
• Advanced proficiency in Lean manufacturing, Statistical Process Control, and FMEA deployment.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP manufacturing modules, PLM systems, and quality data platforms.
