Quality Engineer Manager (Aviation)

Location: On-site in Kinston, North Carolina, United States. Eligible for employment in the US is required; travel up to 5% to domestic and/or international customers or suppliers may be required.

What you will do

• Lead and implement cross-functional quality improvement projects, identify recurring problems, escalate issues, and develop risk mitigation measures using the Practical Problem Solving approach.
• Manage QSR, SARI, Events, and Notices of Escape, including generation, submission, monitoring, and follow-up.
• Oversee the daily activities and performance of Quality Engineers and Quality Technical Assistants, supporting non-conformance reduction and rate enablement.
• Manage special process qualification across the Kinston sites and sustain AS9100 and NADCAP certifications.
• Provide technical training and develop Quality Engineering team members.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, global hirify.global sites, and airlines to integrate quality requirements into production and sourcing processes and establish project governance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5 years of industrial experience in the aviation industry, or a high school diploma/equivalency with at least 9 years of industrial experience in the aviation industry.
• Experience with hirify.global Quality systems and requirements and 9S/8D methodology.
• Experience coaching and mentoring aviation personnel on roles, responsibilities, systems, process requirements, and improvements.
• Experience in auditing and compliance, including AS9100 and NADCAP.
• Required training certifications in project management, quality management, aviation safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong knowledge of aviation Quality Management Systems, preferably in manufacturing, and demonstrated understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Experience managing operational projects with multiple stakeholders and strong project management capabilities.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, flexibility, initiative, and stakeholder relationship management.
• Proficiency in project management tools, manufacturing tools such as MES, quality management systems used in manufacturing, MS Office, and Google Suite.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively and make strategic and tactical decisions concerning regulatory requirements, quality standards, operational constraints, product compliance, and production efficiency.
• Current US employment authorization is required. No security clearance is required.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aviation, or Quality Assurance.
• 15 years of experience in project management, quality assurance, quality control, manufacturing operations, manufacturing engineering/methods, or a similar role in aviation or other manufacturing environments.
• Experience with aerospace-specific tools such as SAP, MES systems, and statistical software including Minitab or JMP.
