Payroll Services Manager

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end payroll delivery across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring accurate and timely pay, reconciliations, data integrity, and effective controls.
• Lead and develop the payroll team with clear accountability, strong service standards, and effective management of complex issues and escalations.
• Own payroll compliance, governance, and risk management across the payroll lifecycle.
• Ensure legislative and regulatory requirements are met and manage audits and control frameworks.
• Drive payroll transformation and continuous improvement through technology, automation, data, and system enhancements.
• Partner with People & Communications, Finance, Legal, and business leaders to improve efficiency, controls, and employee experience.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience leading a payroll team in a complex Australian environment.
• Sound knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, modern awards, PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax, and leave entitlements.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a payroll team in a complex, multi-site environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in payroll governance, compliance, audit management, systems optimization, and continuous process improvement.
• Strong analytical, stakeholder management, and customer-service skills, with attention to detail and broader functional leadership capability.

• Experience managing payroll in New Zealand.
• Experience working in a large or multinational organization.
• Experience using Definitiv or a similar contemporary payroll platform.
