Location: Onsite at the Torrance, California facility in the Los Angeles area; ability to work long hours and weekends as necessary to support critical milestones.
Salary: $150,000–$190,000 per year, plus a significant stock option package.
Company
hirify.global is a Series C startup developing mass-producible, inherently safe microreactors for terrestrial, underwater, and space applications.
What you will do
Build and run thermal-fluids models for reactor-core and power-conversion-system components and subsystems.
Assess pressure drop, heat-transfer capability, and other performance characteristics using hand calculations, internal tools, and CFD.
Collaborate with designers and responsible engineers on sizing, material selection, design feedback, and design-for-manufacturing considerations.
Document analytical results, assumptions, and limitations for internal stakeholders and external customers.
Support test campaigns through test planning, instrumentation selection, data review, root-cause analysis, and model validation.
Develop internal tools and calculators and provide technical mentorship across engineering teams.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a similar technical discipline.
5+ years of experience performing thermal-fluid analysis.
Experience building and running CFD models with commercial codes such as Fluent, CFX, or Star-CCM+, including conjugate heat-transfer models and compressible equations of state.
Experience using CAD software for design modification and model defeaturing, such as Siemens NX or similar.
Experience with Python, MATLAB, VBA, or another scripting language for building and maintaining tools and calculators.
Ability to work long hours and weekends when necessary to support critical milestones.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees, or be eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations under U.S. Government export regulations.
Nice to have
Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a similar technical discipline.
Familiarity with one-dimensional fluid-network tools such as Flownex, Sinda-Fluint, or RELAP5.
Participation in regulatory qualification or certification programs for safety-critical aerospace or nuclear systems.
Understanding and experience implementing numerical methods for fluid-dynamic and thermodynamic systems.
Experience with multiphase fluid and heat-transport systems, including heat pipes, Rankine cycle engines, or saturated cryogenic storage.
Familiarity with ASME BPVC Section III Division 5.
Experience building and running finite element analysis models.
Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with rapid design iteration loops.
Culture & Benefits
In-person collaboration is emphasized, while deep work can be performed from anywhere.
Values include systems thinking, end-user focus, challenging conventional approaches, engaging directly with customers and stakeholders, and operating with nuance.
Significant stock option package in addition to salary.
Work takes place in a 322,000-square-foot facility with spaces for collaboration, R&D, and production.
