Technical IBM Mainframe Applications/Systems Analyst (IBM z/OS)

Location: Remote, United States; Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM CST

Salary: $75,730–$105,500 per year

What you will do

• Install, configure, customize, upgrade, and maintain IBM z/OS operating systems and ISV software using SMP/E.
• Customize system parameters, libraries, and subsystems; apply PTFs and APARs; and plan and execute system IPLs.
• Troubleshoot system issues, analyze dumps, and resolve software-related problems affecting business-critical applications.
• Support DASD, SMS, and DFSMS storage management processes.
• Maintain system documentation and collaborate with application teams, operations, and vendors on problem resolution and enhancements.
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide support during after-hours maintenance windows.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in IBM mainframe system programming.
• Strong experience with IBM z/OS internals and system components, SMP/E, JCL, and TSO/ISPF.
• Knowledge of system utilities including IEBCOPY, IDCAMS, and IEBGENER.
• Experience with system IPLs, dump analysis, and problem determination.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or an equivalent field plus 5 years of experience; 8 additional years of relevant experience may substitute for education.
• Ability to pass a Tier 4/HIGH Background Investigation.

Nice to have

• Experience with additional IBM subsystems such as CICS.
• Familiarity with automation and scheduling tools.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery and high-availability configurations.
• Experience with mainframe performance tuning and capacity planning.
