Thermal Test Engineer

Location: Santa Clara, CA, United States; onsite prototype assembly and disassembly required.

Salary: $95,000–$137,000 base pay annually.

What you will do

• Develop and execute repeated test plans to measure heatsink thermal performance and collect statistical data.
• Set up airflow and impedance tests for systems, externally powered fans or fan modules, and power supplies.
• Perform component temperature measurements and thermal profiling.
• Fabricate test fixtures, customize circuits or power leads, and conduct onsite prototype assembly and disassembly.
• Troubleshoot test issues, communicate with platform and hardware engineers about software-related issues, and investigate testing results.
• Adjust testing plans with mechanical and thermal engineers and document procedures and results for consistent execution.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or Google Docs.
• Basic knowledge of tools including a drill press, Dremel tool, and band saw, as well as electrical devices.

Nice to have

• BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with 3D printers, airflow testing, liquid cooling systems, 3D CAD software, or MATLAB or Python.
