Digital Desk Producer

Location: San Diego, California, United States; onsite at 4575 Viewridge Ave. Flexible hours are required, including weekends, holidays, and overnights as needed.

Compensation: starting at $28.85/hour, commensurate with experience and skill level.

hirify.global operates the FOX 5/KUSI newsroom and its broadcast, digital, website, social media, and streaming platforms.

What you will do

• Organize and assign stories for broadcast, digital platforms, and the station’s streaming app.
• Coordinate and dispatch field crews to breaking and scheduled news events while monitoring scanners, wires, releases, emails, and social media for leads.
• Pitch, write, set up, and produce original streaming content, recurring segments, interviews, explainers, behind-the-scenes features, and other live or recorded digital-exclusive programming.
• Guide newsroom practices for live and recorded streaming content, streaming software, and publishing app content to the website and social media.
• Assist with the development, planning, and follow-up of news stories and keep the newsroom informed about breaking and developing coverage.
• Communicate with Nexstar affiliates, FOX News Edge, and content partners; vet story tips, answer phones, maintain daily news logs, and support audience engagement across platforms.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in a top 50 market newsroom.
• Strong editorial judgment and the ability to identify compelling, audience-focused stories.
• Excellent organizational, multitasking, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to make quick decisions, remain calm under pressure, take a leadership role, and collaborate across teams.
• Knowledge of OBS, VMix, or similar streaming tools.
• Flexibility and ability to adapt to a fast-paced, evolving news environment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overnights as needed.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
• Experience with digital content production, including writing, video editing, and producing.
• Familiarity with the San Diego region.
• Understanding of multi-platform news strategies and audience engagement trends.
