Part-time/Weekend Network Administrator (Network Security)

Location: Washington, DC; weekend overnight shift on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am. Hired candidates must verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States.

Part-time hourly rate: $62–$69 per hour. Additional compensation may include performance-based bonuses, company-paid training or certifications, and referral bonuses.

What you will do

• Evaluate, maintain, and improve network reliability, availability, performance, and security.
• Monitor network performance and security with NOC tools, respond to alerts, diagnose failures, and implement corrective actions.
• Manage and configure Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices, including security patches, updates, and firewall configurations.
• Develop and update NOC processes, playbooks, incident response plans, network diagrams, documentation, and inventory records.
• Conduct security audits, threat intelligence analysis, security-log and network-traffic analysis, and incident investigations to identify root causes and implement remediation.
• Interface with customers to resolve network and connectivity issues.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• At least 5 years of experience managing the provisioning, installation, and support of network communications, including at least 5 years of advanced troubleshooting, network security, and cloud networking experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in a NOC environment.
• Understanding of physical-layer media including copper and fiber; Ethernet switching, spanning tree, and MAC addressing; TCP/IP, UDP and TCP, subnetting, DHCP, gateways, and access-control lists; and DNS, IPSec, and HTTP.
• Experience implementing and operating cross-domain solutions.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP routing protocols.
• Experience with NOC tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix, PRTG, or Wireshark; knowledge or experience administering NeuralStar and Splunk.
• Hands-on Cisco switch and router configuration experience and understanding of work in a secure federal environment.
• High-level networking or network security certification such as CISSP, CCNA, MCSE, Security+, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with ITIL frameworks, incident management, and service desk operations.
