Senior/Staff Software Engineer, Search (Geospatial/ML)

Location: New York, US Remote; the role is based out of the NYC HQ and involves working together in person at the NYC office.

Salary: $200K–$300K per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Improve geocoding and autocomplete quality through query understanding, retrieval, ranking, and relevance improvements.
• Use ML and LLMs to enrich, label, match, and expand location data at scale.
• Automate data pipelines that expand coverage, improve detail, reduce manual work, and simplify routine corrections.
• Onboard messy commercial and open data sources, normalizing, matching, and integrating US and international location data.
• Improve how location data is indexed, retrieved, ranked, and served across data and search systems.
• Work across Scala and Python data pipelines, Rust search and serving systems, and customer-facing use cases supporting over 1 billion API calls per day.

• Approach the role as a generalist software engineer rather than being tied to a particular technology stack.
• Be interested in speaking with customers and prospects and helping make them successful.
• Be deeply curious about how systems work and persistent when solving difficult problems.

Nice to have

• Experience as a technical co-founder.
• Experience with high-throughput, high-growth SaaS applications.
• Experience with geospatial infrastructure.
• Experience applying ML or LLMs to real product or data problems.
• Experience with search, ranking, relevance, query understanding, or information retrieval systems.
