Hedge Fund Performance Analyst

Location: Toronto or Montreal, Canada; hybrid work model. Candidates must be legally eligible to work at the specified location and, where applicable, provide a valid work or study permit.

Salary: $60,000–$97,000 CAD per year.

What you will do

• Design and implement client-facing solutions by customizing SS&C services and platforms.
• Support implementations for hedge funds, funds of funds, and private equity clients across investment performance, attribution analysis, ex-post risk measurement, and GIPS compliance.
• Improve the testability and stability of client-specific implementations and simplify client onboarding procedures.
• Support production processes, ensure timely client deliverables, and provide day-to-day client support.
• Research and design individualized methodologies to improve throughput and solution reliability in production.
• Collaborate with internal and external clients, product management, fund accounting teams, technical teams, partners, and senior management while monitoring industry initiatives and market trends.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in software development and delivery or 4 years of related experience.
• Proven academic achievement and an undergraduate degree in business, finance, computer science, economics, or a related field.
• Financial industry experience, preferably in a middle-office or support area, with understanding of fund accounting, performance measurement, and risk analytics.
• Ability to work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, with strong organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, strong people skills, team orientation, and a professional attitude.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with relational data structures and technical teams to troubleshoot data or reporting issues.
• Experience using or learning AI-enabled productivity and automation tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Blue Prism, or workflow automation tools.
• Curiosity and interest in improving operational efficiency, automation, reporting quality, and analytical workflows.

Nice to have

• M.Sc. or MBA.
• CIPM or CFA designation, or demonstrated progress toward one.
• VBA knowledge.
• Knowledge of investment accounting and risk management practices.
• Knowledge and understanding of derivative products.
• Knowledge of performance measurement, risk analysis, or attribution analysis.
• Relational database knowledge, including MS-SQL or Oracle, and basic SQL querying.
• Working knowledge of Python and shell scripting.
