TL;DR
Principal Electrical Engineer (Power Electronics): Designing and validating power-conversion and delivery hardware for high-current electrochemical water-treatment reactors with an accent on rectifiers, converters, panel integration, protection, and electrical compliance. Focus on optimizing efficiency, thermal and electromagnetic performance, electrical FAT testing, design-for-manufacture, supplier qualification, and field troubleshooting.
Location: Austin, TX, US
Company
hirify.global develops electric-field water-purification technologies, including the Farady Reactor, ALTEP, advanced dissolved air flotation, and micro- and nano-bubble systems for municipal, commercial, residential, and consumer water applications.
What you will do
Design and specify power and voltage-conversion hardware, rectifiers, converters, and distribution devices for high-current, pulsed, or pulse-reverse reactor duty.
Own panel integration, protection coordination, grounding and bonding, power quality, electrical safety, and code compliance for packaged modules.
Relate electrical operating parameters to reactor performance, efficiency, and energy use across the real operating range.
Mitigate thermal, EMI, and harmonic effects; partner with Mechanical and Controls teams on PLC integration and safe-state behavior.
Build and run electrical FATs covering efficiency, thermal performance, harmonics, and fault conditions; diagnose failures and feed findings into design improvements.
Drive design-for-manufacture, supplier qualification, manufacturing quality, commissioning support, electrical troubleshooting, reusable design standards, mentoring, and technical representation with customers and suppliers.
Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering and 7+ years of power-electronics or power-supply design experience.
Hands-on experience designing voltage-conversion devices, rectifiers, and converters through validated, manufacturable products.
Experience with panel integration, protection, grounding, power quality, electrical safety, and compliance.
Hardware bring-up and FAT experience covering efficiency, thermal, harmonics, and fault-condition testing.
Design-for-manufacture and supplier-management experience with power components.
Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360, and simulation tools such as COMSOL or ANSYS for system modeling and design optimization.
Experience mitigating thermal, EMI, and harmonics at component, panel, and system levels.
Exceptional written and verbal communication, including the ability to specify, review, and defend power-hardware designs to engineers, customers, and auditors.
Comfort with ambiguity and the judgment to decide what to design and test next without waiting for direction.
Nice to have
High-current DC and low-voltage AC or pulsed-power experience.
Familiarity with UL, NSF, and field electrical codes, including NSF/ANSI 61 materials context for wetted or packaged hardware.
Industrial water or process-plant deployment experience.
PLC and drive integration literacy.
Electrochemical or electrolyzer power-supply experience and knowledge of how waveform shapes affect electrode behavior.
Thermal and electromagnetic simulation experience and electrical-design CAD experience.
Reliability engineering and accelerated-life testing of power-related hardware.
Knowledge of controls, instrumentation, automation, and SCADA or PLC systems.
Culture & Benefits
Fast-paced environment focused on accelerating the development and adoption of water-treatment technologies.
Work spans engineering, electrochemical, mechanical, controls, manufacturing, customer, partner, and supplier collaboration.
Assessment tests are required as part of the recruitment process; candidates who do not complete them cannot progress to the next stage.
