Data Scientist Lead (AI/ML)

Location: MacDill AFB, Florida, United States; occasional travel to domestic and international locations required

What you will do

• Lead and oversee data engineering, analytics, predictive analytics, and data management teams supporting USCENTCOM Operations Directorate J3.
• Develop advanced analytics, statistical models, data governance practices, and AI/ML solutions for operational decision-making.
• Apply supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement, and generative AI, including large language models and multimodal AI.
• Oversee fault-tolerant ETL/ELT pipelines that clean, tag, and ingest structured and unstructured data into data lakes and lakehouses.
• Direct the data science lifecycle from exploration and algorithm development through validation, deployment, and operationalization.
• Coordinate with senior data officers, advise the team technically, and translate technical findings into actionable insights for operational audiences and senior leadership.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
• BA/BS or MA/MS in Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• More than 10 years of relevant experience, including significant experience leading data science or analytics teams.
• Experience capturing, implementing, and managing data science requirements for senior Military, Federal Government, or Intelligence Community stakeholders.
• Expertise applying advanced AI/ML techniques and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
• High proficiency in Python and/or R for data engineering, automation, and model development.
• Experience with data pipelines, data warehousing, and data lake/lakehouse architectures.
• Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, Palantir Foundry, or Maven Smart System; Apache Spark, Databricks, or Hadoop; and TSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including briefing senior leaders.
• Availability for occasional domestic and international travel.

Nice to have

• MA/MS in a relevant technical field.
• Experience implementing data solutions on Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Understanding of DoD data strategies, security protocols, and data governance standards.
• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS technologies.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
