SMTS Quantum Integration Engineer (Quantum Computing)

Expected salary: $118,000.00–$210,000.00 per year; exact salary depends on qualifications, experience, and location.

What you will do

• Lead semiconductor integration architectures and strategies for quantum computing platforms, including front-end devices, BEOL routing, photonic interfaces, advanced packaging, interconnects, and quantum-specific process modules.
• Develop technology roadmaps, identify critical technology gaps, and drive closure plans through internal development and external collaborations.
• Define and execute integrated process flows, module interactions, process windows, learning cycles, checkpoints, performance metrics, and technical success criteria.
• Optimize integration using DOE methodologies, statistical analysis, yield learning, and tradeoff analysis across performance, manufacturability, reliability, yield, cost, and scalability.
• Collaborate with device engineering, process development, manufacturing, reliability, modeling, design enablement, packaging organizations, customers, and external partners.
• Analyze electrical, physical, reliability, and metrology data; lead root-cause investigations; develop predictive models; mentor engineers; and contribute to technical strategy, invention disclosures, publications, and patents.

Requirements

• Associate degree, BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 15+ years of semiconductor process integration, technology development, or advanced manufacturing experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in semiconductor integration, process development, or technology commercialization.
• Experience leading cross-functional technical programs or major development initiatives.
• Strong analytical, experimental design, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to engineering and leadership audiences.
• Ability to perform activities safely and support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Nice to have

• Experience with advanced semiconductor integration, BEOL technologies, photonics integration, advanced packaging, or heterogeneous integration.
• Knowledge of quantum computing hardware architectures, ion trapping technologies, photonic systems, or cryogenic electronics.
• Experience supporting advanced R&D programs funded through government, commercial, or academic partnerships.
• Familiarity with MES systems and foundry processing.
• Experience transitioning emerging technologies from research into development or manufacturing environments.
