Previz Lead (Animation)

Location: Hybrid/In-Studio in Toronto, Ontario; open only to Ontario residents who can travel to the Greater Toronto Area for studio work.

Expected compensation: CAD 1,550–1,650 per week, depending on experience and role requirements.

What you will do

• Create rough models, blockouts, set dressings, stagings, and camera positions from 2D designs, storyboards, and production scope.
• Complete script previs and evaluate storyboards in 3D space to pre-plan episodes before layout.
• Work with supervisors to determine location and set usage, asset modifications, staging, camera plans, and paths of action.
• Plan and manage Houdini stagings, groupings, and location splits, and populate asset files with Previz Explore Geo.
• Post work in progress and completed work, communicate progress, and coordinate amendments with managers and other departments.
• Stay current with set-dressing techniques and technology and propose new tools and methodologies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Previz or Scene Planner in series and/or feature animation production.
• Previous Lead or Supervisor experience.
• Experience with Maya, Flow, and Houdini, including submission notes, task statuses, and work-time logging.
• Ability to lead conceptual development of previs for new environments and act as a world builder.
• Strong spatial awareness for previs building and translating shots into Layout.
• Strong leadership, collaboration, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of a TV animation series pipeline.
• Portfolio featuring modeling, previs, layout work, or a combination of these.
