Backend Engineer (Mid-Level, AI)

Location: Serbia, fully remote; candidates must be based in Serbia and able to work UAE hours (GST).

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and enhance backend microservices and REST/gRPC APIs primarily with TypeScript, Node.js, and Go.
• Implement and optimize event-driven, asynchronous workflows using Kafka, SQS, or SNS.
• Manage and tune relational, search, and caching data stores including MySQL/PostgreSQL, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, and Redis.
• Deploy, maintain, and monitor containerized applications across AWS and Kubernetes.
• Diagnose and resolve complex backend production issues, supporting system stability and high availability.
• Drive testing, code reviews, technical documentation, and collaboration with product managers, designers, and cross-functional engineers.

Requirements

• 3–6 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong focus on backend microservices and REST/gRPC API design.
• Hands-on expertise with TypeScript and Node.js for enterprise backend development.
• Solid experience with relational databases, search engines, and in-memory caches, including MySQL/PostgreSQL, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, and Redis.
• Practical experience with AWS cloud services and asynchronous/event-driven architectures using Kafka, SQS, or SNS.
• Demonstrated commitment to software quality through unit and integration testing, debugging, and production support.

Nice to have

• Hands-on exposure to Go or a strong desire to learn and contribute to existing Go services.
• Hands-on experience or exposure to production LLM-powered applications, including function/tool calling, context management, or prompt caching.
