Consumer Loan Underwriter (Fintech)

Location: Remote-USA; Tuesday-Saturday, 1PM-10PM CST

What you will do

• Evaluate consumer loan applications for quality, accuracy, credit history, risk, capacity ratios, and alignment with client institution guidelines and policies.
• Make decisions on phone, Internet, indirect, ExpressLink, remote login, and data-entry loan applications, and finalize hirify.global representative applications.
• Monitor application quality, efficiency, accuracy, lending standards, information templates, rate changes, and promotional information.
• Provide lending support to Contact Center representatives, assist with training on new technologies and client programs, and support cross-sell products.
• Resolve customer and financial institution issues, monitor departmental workflows, and help minimize errors and potential monetary loss.
• Identify, manage, monitor, and report operational and information security risks to the appropriate team or management.

Requirements

• High school completion or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Lending Underwriter required.
• Knowledge of lending underwriting best practices, contact center loan application processing, and direct and indirect lending processes and their differences.
• Understanding of credit and lending, including underwriting, risk assessment, capacity ratio assessment, judgmental risk evaluation, and credit bureau information.
• Ability to read and evaluate text and non-text credit files for all three credit reporting agencies.
• Ability to adapt underwriting profiles for multiple financial institutions and monitor remote login indirect loan queues as well as Internet and phone applications.
• Understanding of multiple loan origination systems, including Loans PQ, Fiserv Originate Loans, Temenos, Decision Lender 4.0, and arc OS.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Teams.
• Effective verbal and written communication, confidentiality, flexibility under pressure, autonomous work, regular reliable attendance, and the ability to perform the essential physical functions of the role.

Nice to have

• Associate degree.
• One year of Contact Center experience in a loan Contact Center position.
