Senior Engineering Manager (SaaS)

Location: Utrecht, Netherlands; must be located in the Netherlands, hold a valid work permit, and work from the Utrecht office at least 2 days per week, with the remaining days from home.

Gross annual salary: €100,000–€120,000, including 8% holiday allowance, based on a 40-hour work week.

What you will do

• Lead the Core engineering department, managing 3 team leads who oversee approximately 11 individual contributors.
• Define and deliver the Core domain vision, strategy, roadmap, and success metrics in partnership with the Product Lead.
• Mentor and coach team leads while improving individual and team performance, engagement, and accountability.
• Maintain high engineering standards through strong software development practices, design quality, and pragmatic technical decision-making.
• Improve processes that reduce productivity and build a high-performance culture focused on employee engagement and performance management.
• Use data to guide decisions and evaluate domain and team performance.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager leading team leads or senior engineers.
• Demonstrable experience improving individual and team performance and engagement.
• Previous experience as a software engineer, with knowledge of building high-quality software and evaluating technical trade-offs.
• Outstanding communication skills with engineers and stakeholders.
• A pragmatic, growth-focused mindset and commitment to high standards, continuous reflection, productivity, and minimizing technical debt.
• Availability for at least 32 hours per week.
• Valid work permit and current location in the Netherlands.
