Information Security Engineer Undergraduate Intern

Location: Folsom, California, United States; hybrid with 4 days onsite and 1 day remote.

Annual salary range: $75,898–$75,902 USD.

What you will do

• Support Continuous Threat and Exposure Management, including enterprise vulnerability identification, scanning, assessment, remediation, and containment.
• Configure, manage, and operate vulnerability, asset, application scanning, security patching, and CTEM platforms.
• Support Agile and DevOps platform management, deployment automation, version control, continuous integration, and delivery processes.
• Assist with system automation, upgrades, and integrations across systems, tools, and data sources.
• Help develop defensive AI agents responding to AI-assisted attacks and perform attack surface, attack path, and exposure exploitability analysis.
• Build reporting and dashboards to assess threat hirify.globalligence and prioritize vulnerability elimination while collaborating with software, systems, network, database, monitoring, and information security engineers.

Requirements

• Must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Cyber/Information Security, Management Information Systems, or another science/engineering-related field.
• Understanding of or completed coursework in information security models and concepts.
• Understanding of or completed coursework in IT/security operations and service delivery.
• Understanding of or completed coursework in cloud computing and cloud security components.
• Basic cybersecurity proficiency, including network security, vulnerability management, or data protection practices.
• Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, customer service, and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to learn cybersecurity, work in a dynamic environment, and work in a hybrid onsite/remote setting.
• Available to work part time for 20 hours per week for one year beginning January 2027.
• Must not require hirify.global immigration sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Understanding of IT/security systems engineering or administration duties.
• Windows and Linux administration, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Scripting and automation for system configuration, performance, and troubleshooting.
• Security vulnerability and remediation techniques.
• Offensive security, ethical hacking, penetration testing, and networking skills.
• Basic Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, and SQL skills.
• Experience writing simple to moderately complex scripts and programs for automation, tools, frameworks, or dashboards.
• AI/LLM and AI agent knowledge or experience.
• Software development concepts, including Agile.
• Industry certifications such as CompTIA, SANS, ISACA, or ISC2 certifications including CISSP.
