Senior Specialist, Electrical Engineer (RF Design)

Location: Rochester, New York, US; onsite role with a 5/8 schedule (8 hours per day, 5 days per week). The position requires the ability to obtain a US security clearance; security clearances may only be granted to US citizens.

Salary: $92,500–$171,500 per year in New York State.

What you will do

• Investigate and troubleshoot RF/analog circuitry, components, units, modules, assemblies, SMT, and test issues to the component level.
• Design and conduct engineering experiments, simulations, and bench measurements; analyze test results and reconcile model behavior with circuit performance.
• Lead investigations, coordinate tasks, mentor junior engineers, and communicate technical information and design tradeoffs.
• Qualify alternative components or redesign circuits and sub-assemblies to mitigate shortages and obsolete or long-lead components.
• Collaborate with design engineering and manufacturing teams to introduce new designs, implement circuit changes, reduce failures, and improve product performance and cost.
• Ensure product performance aligns with product specifications and industry standards while identifying technical risks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 7 years of relevant experience; or a graduate degree and at least 9 years of related experience; or at least 11 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
• High-level RF knowledge and experience designing and troubleshooting RF systems.
• Hardware troubleshooting experience with analog and RF components and circuits.
• Ability to design and conduct engineering experiments and act on test results.
• Experience designing and analyzing circuits and components using ADS, Matlab, and other design and simulation tools.
• Ability to use oscilloscopes, DMMs, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and signal generators.
• Ability to analyze designs and communicate technical information to support staff.
• Ability to obtain a US security clearance; security clearances may only be granted to US citizens.

Nice to have

• Electrical engineering degree.
• Experience with tactical radio and power amplifier hardware.
• Experience troubleshooting to the component level.
• Working knowledge of LabVIEW, ADS, and Jira.
