Data Engineer I (Databricks, MLOps)

Location: Hybrid in Hartford, Connecticut, United States; other listed location: St. Paul, Minnesota. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Annual base salary: $109,300–$180,200 USD, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Build, operationalize, and design complex data solutions and pipelines supporting artificial intelligence, machine learning, and business intelligence.
• Capture, explore, transform, and utilize data; analyze sources and recommend data for analytical processes.
• Apply data governance, data security, and data quality practices, including data cleansing and quality recommendations.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver data products and educate end users on the analytics environment.
• Analyze and resolve moderate-complexity data and system defects and incidents.
• Test data movement, transformation code, and data components.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related STEM field, or equivalent education and/or work experience.
• At least 2 additional years of software or data engineering experience. The posting also lists six years of related experience.
• Experience with the Databricks platform, including MLflow for experiment tracking, model registry, and model serving.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD tools such as Terraform, GitHub Actions, and Databricks Asset Bundles.
• Exposure to MLOps practices, including model deployment pipelines, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms, programming languages, data manipulation tools, and software engineering practices.
• Ability to deliver predictable increments, decompose assignments into small-batch releases, and contribute to tradeoff and negotiation discussions.
• Demonstrated domain expertise, technical understanding, problem-solving and debugging skills, including resolving issues in unfamiliar code or systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, collaboration skills, and intermediate leadership skills with a record of identifying personal growth opportunities.

Nice to have

• Interest or experience in generative AI tooling, LLM orchestration frameworks, or related emerging technologies.
