Investment Strategy Senior Portfolio Strategist (Hybrid)

Location: Hybrid position requiring three days per week in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa office; occasional travel of less than 10%.

Salary: $135,000–$175,000 annually, plus potential eligibility for an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Support the design, management, and oversight of customized insurance investment portfolios across the general account.
• Manage liquidity activities, including cash forecasting and planning for ongoing funding needs.
• Evaluate, structure, and implement portfolio optimization initiatives, including portfolio transfers and derivative unwind transactions.
• Lead the review and approval of portfolio transfer proposals and support benchmark-setting and tactical asset allocation processes.
• Lead strategic investment initiatives, business process improvements, and cross-functional projects across asset classes and product portfolios.
• Prepare investment analyses, presentations, client RFP responses, and quarterly portfolio reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a relevant field.
• At least six years of fixed income trading or portfolio management experience, preferably in the insurance industry.
• Broad knowledge of asset classes and sectors, including corporate securities, public and private mortgage-backed securities, commercial and residential mortgage loans, and public and private high yield.
• Broad knowledge of fixed income portfolio management techniques and familiarity with asset-liability management for life insurance companies and products.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including experience evaluating portfolio risk, duration, liquidity, and asset allocation tradeoffs.
• Advanced Excel proficiency and experience developing financial models and portfolio analytics.
• Experience collaborating with portfolio managers, actuaries, risk professionals, and senior investment leadership.
• Ability to communicate complex investment concepts and portfolio recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without immigration sponsorship or employer-of-record immigration support.

Nice to have

• Actuarial experience.
• MBA, CFA, and/or FSA.
