AI Engineer Manager

What you will do

• Lead the successful delivery of advanced AI solutions using machine learning, generative AI, and agentic AI technologies.
• Drive adoption of modern AI frameworks, AIOps practices, and scalable cloud-native architectures.
• Provide technical leadership on architectural principles, product design, strategic direction, and system architecture.
• Manage, coach, and develop an AI engineering team while establishing standards, policies, and engineering excellence.
• Build enduring customer relationships, lead client projects, and engage senior and C-level stakeholders on requirements and architecture.
• Foster innovation, continuous learning, responsible AI, and commercial acumen across the team and wider community.

Requirements

• At least a 2.1 degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Statistics, or a similar quantitative field.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver AI/ML solutions into production.
• Technical leadership experience in AI delivery, including architecture, product design principles, and engineering excellence.
• Experience with prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic AI, model evaluation, and monitoring using metrics such as precision, recall, NDCG, and drift detection.
• Strong Python skills and software engineering best practices including CI/CD, testing, and code reviews.
• Experience developing solutions at scale on Azure and AWS, using containerisation and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes and Docker.
• Expertise in AI data engineering involving large-scale, unstructured, and multimodal data.
• Understanding of responsible AI, model interpretability, and ethical considerations.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead client projects, manage C-level stakeholders, and establish requirements and architecture concepts.
• Experience managing, coaching, and developing junior team members and the wider community.

Nice to have

• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, fine-tuning or distillation of LLMs such as GPT, Llama, Claude, or Gemini, and machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn and XGBoost.
• Experience with AI data storage, vector databases, semantic search, and knowledge graphs.
• Contributions to open-source AI projects, research publications, or industry events and websites.
• Familiarity with AI security, privacy, and compliance standards such as ISO 42001.
• Experience shaping commercial AI offerings, winning AI work, and supporting pre-sales.
