News Reporter (Broadcast Journalism)

Location: Fresno, California, United States; onsite; full-time; flexibility to work any shift.

Salary: $650,000 annually; compensation is commensurate with experience and skill set.

What you will do

• Report, research, investigate, and present news stories for broadcast, web, eMedia, and social media platforms.
• Gather and verify information through interviews, observation, public records, reference materials, events, and other research.
• Arrange interviews, evaluate leads and tips, pitch locally relevant stories, and discuss priorities with producers and news managers.
• Write, review, revise, and edit copy and reports according to editorial style, formatting, timing, accuracy, and journalistic integrity standards.
• Shoot and edit news events and reports, determine story emphasis and format, and produce clear, engaging content.
• Interact with viewers and users on social media and perform special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Fluency in English.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• At least two years of news reporting experience; the required amount may vary depending on market size.
• Superior on-air presence.
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Flexibility to work any shift.
• Must join the SAG-AFTRA union.
