Senior Scientist, Analytical R&D (Vaccines)

Location: West Point, Pennsylvania, United States; onsite role. Domestic relocation is indicated. Travel requirements: 10%.

Salary: $117,000–$184,200 per year, plus eligibility for annual bonus and long-term incentive where applicable.

What you will do

• Conduct advanced analytical work using separations, spectroscopy, and classical wet chemistry techniques.
• Lead assay development and contribute scientifically at program level.
• Characterize protein, subunit, and live virus vaccines for process development, formulation development, vaccine characterization, and method transfers.
• Collaborate with product teams in a fast-paced, integrated, multidisciplinary environment.
• Provide technical guidance to other scientists, evaluate new technologies, and drive analytical innovation.
• Prioritize and manage multiple projects while communicating scientific findings through written and oral presentations.

Requirements

• PhD, or a Master's degree with 4+ years of industry experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of experience in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Structural Biology, or a closely related field.
• In-depth knowledge of chemistry and separations, including UPLC, HPLC, CE, and electrophoresis.
• Experience with protein characterization and protein interactions, including electrophoresis, SPR, ITC, and MALS.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to separation methodology and independently solve analytical problems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including strong presentation skills.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects.
• Motivation to learn new skills, take on new challenges, and apply scientific curiosity.
• Strong analytical capabilities and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, integrated, multidisciplinary team environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in vaccine research and/or development.
• Experience evaluating assay robustness.
• Solid computer skills and ability to script analytical analysis workbooks.
• Experience with automated laboratory instrumentation.
• Experience with biophysical methodologies.
