Data Engineer Lead (AWS)

Location: Columbus, Ohio, United States; office-based workplace. Certain positions may be eligible for a flexible arrangement, with specific arrangements determined by the hiring team.

What you will do

• Architect, create, maintain, manage, and optimize data pipelines and move them effectively into production.
• Build and operationalize curated data for business analysts, data scientists, and other enterprise analytics consumers.
• Improve data management infrastructure and drive automation in data integration and management.
• Test data quality against business rules to ensure data is accurate, complete, consistent, and uniform.
• Partner with data science, business analysis, and data governance teams to refine requirements and promote governed content for reuse.
• Lead, coach, mentor, and train team members and counterparts in data pipelining and preparation techniques.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, a related field, or relevant work experience.
• 7+ years of related experience in data management disciplines, including data integration, modeling, optimization, data quality, or directly relevant data engineering responsibilities.
• 7+ years of experience with database programming languages and advanced analytics.
• Ability to communicate complex results to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work effectively in teams and independently across multiple tasks while meeting aggressive timelines.
• Strategic and intellectually curious approach with a focus on outcomes, professional relationship-building, and cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field.
• Hands-on data testing experience and success with data preparation tools.
• Extensive experience with data engineering tools such as Glue, Landa, Athena, and AWS.
• Expert knowledge of BI software tools and open-source or commercial data science platforms.
• Experience with Lean and/or Agile methodology and data management architectures and processes.
• Strong experience designing, building, and managing pipelines for large, heterogeneous datasets and integrated datasets.
• Experience extracting business value from large, heterogeneous datasets.
• Experience with DevOps capabilities including version control, automated builds, testing, and release management.
• Ability to train more junior analysts, lead cross-functional teams, and learn new technologies on the job.
• Financial services background.
