Software Engineer (Linux/Networking)

Location: 100% onsite in Lexington, Massachusetts, United States; candidates must live within 100 miles of Lexington, MA. US citizenship and an active Secret or higher clearance are required. The role may involve occasional travel.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and operate advanced network emulation testbeds.
• Test end-to-end software and hardware performance in challenging environments.
• Troubleshoot technical issues, implement solutions, and analyze system behavior.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during experimental testing.
• Prepare technical reports for government officials and senior stakeholders.

Requirements

• Active Secret clearance or higher and US citizenship.
• At least 5 years of data analysis experience and 5 years working in a classified environment.
• At least 10 years of Linux command-line experience.
• At least 2 years of networking experience, including Wireshark, TCP dump, and SS.
• At least 2 years of network protocol experience with TCP/IP.
• At least 5 years of troubleshooting experience.
• At least 5 years of software development experience with Python, Golang, or C++.
• Ability to analyze data and communicate results.

Nice to have

• 10 years of network emulation experience, especially with CORE.
• 10 years of software architecture or design experience.
• Networking certifications such as Network+, Security+, or CCNA.
• Metric collection and visualization with Prometheus and Grafana.
• Experience developing distributed systems and automated testing frameworks.
• J-series messaging or OMS/UCI experience.
• Experience with HAIPE devices.
• Container technologies including Podman, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• Radio or wireless systems knowledge.
• Test and integration experience.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.
