VP of Data (AI)

Location: Barcelona, Spain; hybrid, with in-person work three days per week and a requirement to be within commuting distance of company hubs.

What you will do

• Own the long-term vision and strategy for data architecture, analytics, predictive modelling, and AI product integration across Travel, Spend, and Events.
• Lead a 40+ person organisation covering data product, reporting analytics, data analytics, analytics engineering, data engineering, data science, and data governance.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Platform, Finance, Customer Care, Marketing, Revenue, and People to turn machine learning and advanced analytics into customer-facing products.
• Own data governance, privacy, compliance, security requirements, infrastructure, budget, and build-versus-buy prioritisation.
• Unify standards and roadmaps across data teams while developing an operating model and organisational design.
• Coach senior leaders, attract top talent, and build a culture of ownership, autonomy, and measurable results.

Requirements

• Experience leading data organisations in high-growth technology or SaaS companies.
• Experience scaling organisations of 40 or more through senior leaders, coaching leaders of leaders, and hiring top talent.
• Data science background combined with analytics and data engineering expertise, with sufficient technical depth to work through complex problems.
• Executive-level ownership of data strategy and budget, including major build, buy, and investment decisions and contribution to company direction.
• Fluency across the modern data stack, including dbt, Snowflake, conversational analytics, and Looker or Tableau.
• Deep understanding of data privacy, governance, and compliance, including GDPR.
• Proven partnerships across Product, Engineering, Finance, and Operations, with communication skills to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment.
• Ability to move between company-level strategy and hands-on technical detail.
• English is the official language at the office; an English-language resume is requested.
