Commissioning Engineer (Instrumentation)

What you will do

• Plan, coordinate, and execute instrumentation pre-commissioning and commissioning activities according to project specifications, ADNOC standards, and ISA/IEC codes.
• Review loop drawings, P&IDs, control philosophies, logic diagrams, and approved design documentation.
• Perform loop checking, functional testing, calibration, and configuration of smart transmitters, control valves, and final control elements.
• Lead subcontractor teams during installation verification, signal testing, system energization, and integrated testing with Electrical and Mechanical commissioning teams.
• Interface with DCS, ESD, F&G, SCADA, and PLC vendors; resolve technical issues and coordinate system integration.
• Complete commissioning dossiers, as-built markups, punch-list closure, progress reports, training, and final handover to client operations teams while following HSE and PTW procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control or Electronics Engineering from a recognized university.
• Minimum 10–12 years of experience in instrumentation pre-commissioning and commissioning for Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects.
• Strong knowledge of instrument calibration, control-system architecture, DCS/PLC/ESD/F&G integration, and loop-verification procedures.
• Familiarity with ADNOC, Shell, or Aramco commissioning standards.
• Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, I/O lists, and logic diagrams.
• Understanding of permit-to-work and field-isolation procedures.
• Experience with calibrators, simulators, communicators, loop-checking software, Commissioning Management Systems, MS Office, data handlers, and vendor configuration tools for DCS and ESD systems.
• Strong coordination, troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and team-working skills in a multicultural, cross-discipline environment.

Nice to have

• ADNOC-approved or equivalent vendor/systems training, including Emerson, Honeywell, Yokogawa, ABB, or Siemens.
• Experience with EPC/PMC contractors at ADNOC sites or equivalent.
• Exposure to digital instrumentation, asset management systems, and HART/FOUNDATION Fieldbus.
