Staff Test Engineer (Photonics)

What you will do

• Work with R&D, test engineering, operations teams, and external suppliers to define and develop automated test systems for high-volume production.
• Develop, implement, and release factory test strategies, processes, and tools for optical components such as CW lasers and ELS.
• Develop and debug software programs and EDA tools for process and test equipment, including applications for automation and analytics.
• Perform statistical data analysis, correlate test results with fab inline processes, and troubleshoot root causes to improve yield.
• Drive test automation, process improvement, test-time and cost reduction, yield improvement, tester uptime, and utilization initiatives.
• Lead troubleshooting and failure-analysis activities with suppliers and the operations team; some travel is required.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in test engineering, automation, or software development in a hardware environment.
• BS or MS degree in electrical engineering, information, or another relevant major.
• Strong programming fundamentals and the ability to develop applications for automation and analytics.
• Hands-on experience with hardware, including instruments, motion systems, fiber, cabling, and signals.
• Experience with troubleshooting and failure root-cause analysis.
• Strong understanding of Gage R&R, correlation, test coverage, and qualification.
• Ability to interpret and analyze test data and correlate it with fab inline processes for yield improvement.
• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, data-analysis, and data-driven analytical skills.
• Ability to own problems and solutions, drive initiatives across cross-functional teams, host effective meetings, facilitate actions, and resolve conflicts.

Nice to have

• Experience with semiconductor lasers, including edge-emitting lasers or Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSELs), especially in device design, process development, and characterization.
• Familiarity with photonics surmount, housing, semiconductor laser diodes, LEDs, photodetectors, driver ICs, and optical components such as lenses, diffusers, and DOEs.
