Lab Coordinator (Materials Science)

What you will do

• Coordinate daily laboratory operations, lead regular team meetings, distribute incoming requests, track actions, escalate issues, and drive KPI performance.
• Provide direct people leadership, coaching, and supervision for Lab Technicians, Lab Technologists, and interns.
• Prioritize workloads with the Lab Manager, maintain SOPs, track equipment maintenance and consumables, identify capability gaps, and coordinate with service partners.
• Act as the safety responsible person for assigned laboratory areas and coordinate with the regional safety committee, internal requesters, suppliers, and service partners.
• Define and drive continuous improvement and automation activities, develop new test methods, evaluate novel testing approaches, and contribute to CapEx capability planning.
• Build expertise in laboratory testing methods and provide hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and technical guidance on test method selection and testing capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (HBO BSc) in Materials Science, Chemistry, Polymer Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 2–5 years of work experience in a laboratory environment, preferably involving the testing of polymers, film constructions, or coatings.
• Proven experience in people management and leading a team.
• High independence, agility, strong organization, and attention to detail.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Nice to have

• Fluency in Dutch.
