Lead AI Cloud Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL; other location: Barrington, IL. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without employment-based visa sponsorship.

Salary: $137,400–$233,600 USD per year.

What you will do

• Design, develop, deploy, and support full-stack applications, APIs, microservices, enterprise integrations, and reusable components for Digital Coworkers and the Generative AI Foundation Platform.
• Build AI-powered business solutions and support Digital Coworkers across Transfer Agency, Reconciliation, Omnium, and future AI initiatives.
• Integrate large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents, orchestration frameworks, enterprise APIs, workflow platforms, and cloud-native services.
• Design and deploy Azure cloud-native solutions, develop Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement monitoring, logging, resiliency, performance optimization, security, governance, production deployment, and operational readiness.
• Contribute to architecture and code reviews, technical documentation, responsible AI, continuous improvement, and collaboration across engineering, architecture, operations, security, and business teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Software Development, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience supporting enterprise applications.
• 5+ years of cloud engineering experience supporting Azure or comparable cloud platforms.
• Experience designing and developing APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience building enterprise applications using modern software engineering practices.
• Experience collaborating across engineering, architecture, operations, security, and business teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deliverables.
• Ability to operate in a regulated enterprise environment with governance, controls, auditability, and operational readiness expectations.
• Technical knowledge of full-stack application development, Azure services, Terraform, CI/CD, distributed systems, microservices, API development, AI/ML concepts, LLMs, RAG, AI agents, vector databases, prompt engineering, Digital Coworkers, workflow automation, platform integrations, enterprise security, and controls.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting enterprise AI platforms, AI-enabled business solutions, Digital Coworkers, intelligent automation platforms, or workflow orchestration solutions.
• Experience building AI-powered applications using Microsoft AI services, Azure OpenAI, Copilot technologies, or agentic AI solutions.
• Experience in financial services or another regulated industry.
• Familiarity with enterprise AI governance, Responsible AI, model lifecycle management, and operational controls.
• Experience supporting globally distributed engineering teams.
• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, vector databases, enterprise integration platforms, ServiceNow, Identity Management systems, and operational support processes.
