Embedded Software Engineer (Automotive)

Location: San Francisco, United States; on-site in the office five days a week.

hirify.global is building an autonomous, zero-emissions hauler using vision-based AI for the global logistics network.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and test real-time embedded firmware in C++ for automotive-grade microcontrollers.
• Develop reliable communication interfaces using CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, and UART.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers on board bring-up and hardware-software co-debugging.
• Root-cause board-level and vehicle-level issues in the field.
• Support manufacturing test development and vehicle software deployment.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience writing C, C++, or Rust for microcontrollers.
• Good understanding of embedded system fundamentals.
• Ability to read schematics.
• Familiarity with Git and a Linux development environment.
• Eligible to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Practical experience working on complex physical systems.
• Hands-on experience with 32-bit ARM Cortex-M or Cortex-R microcontrollers.
• Comfort using laboratory tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
• Familiarity with CAN or Ethernet.
• Participation in student engineering project teams such as Formula SAE or robotics clubs.
