Senior Electrical Engineer (Waste-to-X): Leading electrical basic engineering for Waste-to-X plants, from system concepts and single-line diagrams to power system studies and equipment specification, with an accent on industrial power systems, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional coordination. Focus on designing electrical architectures, analyzing short circuits and load flow, coordinating protection systems, and guiding suppliers, clients, and junior engineers through complex plant projects.

Location: Hybrid in Zürich, Switzerland

What you will do

Lead electrical basic engineering for Waste-to-X plants while incorporating client specifications and regulatory standards.
Develop electrical concepts, single-line diagrams, system architectures, and technical documentation.
Perform short-circuit, load-flow, and protection-coordination studies using PowerFactory DigSilent and ETAP.
Size and specify power transformers, HV/MV/LV switchgear, UPS systems, and instrument transformers.
Coordinate electrical interfaces, cable routing, and equipment placement with plant layout planners and other disciplines.
Prepare technical specifications, evaluate supplier bids, participate in vendor selection, and lead technical reviews with clients and network operators.

Requirements

Several years of experience in electrical engineering, particularly power systems and industrial plant design.
Proficiency with power system analysis tools such as PowerFactory DigSilent and ETAP, plus relay configuration software such as Siemens DIGSI and IEC 61850.
Ability to read, interpret, and design electrical schematics and documentation.
Solid understanding of project scheduling, cost awareness, and deliverables for electrical projects.
High autonomy, with the ability to prioritize tasks and make timely decisions within defined limits.
Excellent written and spoken English, with confidence in cross-functional communication and technical documentation.
Competence in MS Office and commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Nice to have

Familiarity with EPLAN and Siemens SIMARIS.
